Story
THE HISTORY
Founded in 2008, Bodegas Tridente, is located in Villanueva de Campean (just south of Zamora) in the heart of the “Tierra del Vino” (Land of Wine). The estate vineyards are made up of over 40 small parcels mainly of old vine Tempranillo (locally called “Tinta de Toro”), the oldest of which is “Rejón” planted in 1889. They are located between Villanueva de Campean (Zamora) and El Pego (Toro), which are 2 separate appellations in the Spanish DO system, which is why the wines are bottled under the broader VT Castilla y León appellation, allowing them to blend the best quality grapes from both neighboring regions.
THE TERROIR
The ancient lands of the Kingdom of León, with their icy winds in the depth of winter and humid summers, chisel the temperament of wines with strength and distinction. They are given their character by the centuries-old, low-yield vineyards, guarded with zeal and harvested by hand. On the gravel soils, where the cavalry helmets of the Knights Templar resounded, pearl clusters of Tempranillo and the indigenous varieties Tinta de Toro and Prieto Picudo are grown
