Frecciarossa

Story

The villa and property (now 64 acres) have been in the Odero family since 1919, and they have been producing and bottling their own wine there ever since. Already in the 1930s Giorgio Odero vinified the grapes from the different vineyards separately, choosing only the best crus; a rare practice in the area where most wine was mass-produced. They began exporting their wine into the United States in 1934, just after the end of the Prohibition, and today they still use their National Export Institute number 19 (there are now several thousand). In 1990, under the direction of Margherita Radici Odero, the vineyards were replanted and the cellar restructured with the latest technical improvements, and they began promoting the estate trademark in Italy and abroad. Under the estate’s current direction by son-in-law Pietro Calvi di Bergolo, the wines are being described as some of the best from Oltrepó.
