Being a family-owned winery absolutely affects our winemaking. It affords us the luxury to take the long view. We can take risks and grow our grapes in mountain and hillside vineyards- even though it is more difficult for both the farmer and the vine.

Saracina, a 250-acre ranch which includes a winery and sustainably farmed vineyards, is also home to 140-year-old olive trees, vegetable gardens, bee hives, and all manner of bird and wild animal life.

When La Crema was founded in 1979 as La Crema Viñera, meaning the Best of the Vine, the name was intended as an unabashed boast: These vineyards produced the very best grapes in the region.
